Book presentation: Yannis Stavrakakis “Populism: Myths, Stereotypes and Reorientations“

On the 21st of April 2022, we were happy to welcome Yannis Stavrakakis for another book review of his preliminary book on „Populism: Myths, Stereotypes and Reorientations.“ The book attracted my interest in my own research on populism from the perspective of radical democratic theory. Unfortunately, the book is still available only in Greek and for this reason, we were delighted to welcome Yannis to speak about it.

Yannis Stavrakakis is a political theorist, and professor at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He is a well-known proponent of the Essex School of discourse analysis and an influential researcher on populism. Between 2014 and 2015, he led the so-called POPULISMUS research project on populist discourse at the University of Thessaloniki, co-funded by the European Union. There is a similar English version of the book upcoming. So, those who unfortunately don’t speak Greek like me, don’t have to wait too long. Here is a video of the book discussion:
